Prince Bira was a member of the Thai Royal family, descended from his grandfather HM Mongkut of Siam. Bira's cousin, another royal named Prince Cula, funded his racing career from the 1930s through the mid 1950s. Bira was educated at Eton and Cambridge in England. Following his eventful career in motorsports Bira participated in four different Summer Olympics games, representing Thailand as a yachtsman, etc. Bira was a unique character, one who was fond of naming his cars, Romulus and Remus, were the most memorable monikers he gave his race cars. The prince also talked to his cars at night in the garage before he retired for bed. During the races he resumed these one on one discussions with the vehicles he drove.
