Hi Househusbands,

There are many good cooks that aspire to become chefs, thus opening the doors to work in a Restaurant and forge out a successful career for themselves.

However, having had the experience of Hotel, Bar and Restaurant management, as well as being hands on, with both the cooking side and bar side of operations.  Along with spending time as a house husband, and also being a writer, I decided to combine all these occupational aspects and experiences together, and write a recipe book to give househusbands some ideas, which would keep the family well fed and content.

Being a husband and a dad, I have always wanted the best for my family, and that includes satisfying their appetites.

Our son is now grown up and has flown the nest, but regularly visits with his fiancé, and my wife works in a ‘Residential Care Home’ cooking to feed the residents, plus we both have other family commitments.  But meal times are still an important part of the day, when we can all catch up with each others activities of the day.

So I have put together this collection of recipes, which hopefully will be useful to all you househusbands.

Most of them are easy to medium to create, and some are even suitable for your children to get involved with.  Their involvement is not only enjoyable, but also encourages them to be proactive in the kitchen, and also sets them up and prepares them for self sufficiency when they grow into adulthood.

Having had first hand experience of this method of encouragement, as my grandmother would involve me when she was baking when I was about five years old.  On the day that she was baking, I would go to her house, as we only lived a few doors away, and she would lift out my own little mixing bowl, and I would mix various ingredients together. 

Clearly as a five year old, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was doing, but it was fun, and as I was growing up, my mum carried that encouragement on, which came in very useful.  Because, once I’d left home, I spent about ten years living on my own, before getting married, and had to cook for myself.  It was a matter of cook your own meals, or starve, as my finances wouldn’t stretch to take-away’s every day.  So these early years of cooking instruction and direction, became invaluable, and I am very grateful to both my grandmother and my mum for their help.

All these recipes, as well as not being overly difficult, or too time consuming, should keep your family contented, well pleased and satisfied with your endeavours.

Try them, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the results, but please experiment, and add your own slant.

 

Please note that I do not add salt to any of my recipes.

The reason for this is that according to the NHS we all eat far too much salt.
