Long ago when the first people were migrating to into the Americas much was unknown and a mystery.

A boy with extra ordinary talent and capability selects the claw of an eagle and becomes Taelo (Tā Low).  An eagle, lets out a joyous scream and plucks the claw from Taelo’s upstretched hand.  He is joined by his cousin Golden Hawk.  The two boys are cousins born on the same day.  They are inseparable and face many adventurous challenges.

The Eagle’s scream is heard each time Taelo and Golden Hawk face a new challenge.  Taelo, Golden Hawk and their team decide to take a trip of discovery to the east.

Taelo and Golden Hawk undertake a journey to the North.  Broken Spear foreshadows a major battle.  Burley Bear and Meadow Flower rejoin the team and bring two more Others along as well. Lily brings her new mate and Quite Rabbit's grandmother, Floating Cloud joins the team.

The team crosses the territory of dire wolves with no major conflict.  They successfully go through a gorge and go into the territory of the giant northern bear.

Taelo selects Feather in the Wind and her wolves to help in defending against the giant bears.

Taelo enrages the first attacking giant bear ensuring it chases him.  Feather in the Wind and her wolves follow on it heal.

The bear is faster than expected and about to catch up to Taelo when Feather in the Wind has her wolves attack.

The bear stops to fend off the wolves and Taelo mounts his attack.  The bear is much tougher than expected.  Feather in the Wind runs in and drives her spear into the bear.  Taelo delivers the fatal blow.

Feather in the Wind bleeding profusely is on the verge of bleeding out when Taelo takes action to save her.  Quiet Rabbit arrives and carefully sews the wound shut.

Feather in the Wind is placed on a travois along with several of her wounded wolves and the team moves northward seeking to get out of bear territory.

The team discover the musk ox at the foot of the ice bridge from west to east.  The decision to leave the mounts behind requires that some of the team remain to tend them.  Lily and her mate Slow Walker along with Single Leaf and her mate Sharp Blade volunteer to stay.

The way across to the west goes without incident.

The team continues southward until the eagle lets out a cry.

Taelo hides the sleds and has Feather in the Wind handle the wolf pack.  He requests that Floating Cloud and Bashful Lark stay with the sleds.

The team progresses until they get to the top a hill looking over the valley.  A large group of warriors are marching toward the team.  Taelo has the team fall into battle position and then goes out to meet the on-coming army.

The leader of the warrior group comes out to meet with the intent is to kill Taelo.  He is the ruthless leader of the Sky Eyes.  He attacks as Taelo puts up his hand in greeting.  Taelo swiftly pulls his shark tooth edged weapon from his back and cuts off the hand of the leader.

The stunned leader collapses and his army runs in to defend him.  Taelo fights a retreating battle until he rejoins his team.

The team wins the first encounter and the Sky Eyes retreat.

The leader of the Sky Eyes, now missing his right hand is crazed and wants immediate revenge.  He has six times the number of warriors as his enemies and he has conscripted the remaining warriors of the village that he has over run.

Taelo revisits his battle strategy and plan.  He splits the wolf pack into two groups on either side of the team.  The team will fight in the battle proven diamond formation that they have perfected.

The Sky Eyes come out in full force.  They put the conscripted brown eyed warriors in front.

Taelo has sent Running Stag to recruit a group of people that have escaped from the village.  They are to attack from the back.

The Sky Eyes progress rapidly to the bottom of the hill.  Taelo sits at the top in a casual fashion.

The frustrated  Sky Eyes decide to come up the hill to attack.

The superior battle planning and execution by Taelo and his team.  The ability for Taelo to get the front line of brown eyes to turn and  fight with him, rear attack and the side wolf attacks result in an overwhelming victory over the sky eyes.

Only half of the Sky Eyes army survives and half of them are wounded.  They retreat from battle.  Taelo chooses not to follow.   He is content that only Little Otter has a minor wound.
