Washington Irving was an American author, essayist, biographer, short-stories writer best known for his stories "Rip Van Winkle”(1819) and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1820). “The Adventure of the Little Antiquary” is the story narrated by the author about his friend, the doctor, who was a thorough antiquary: a little, rusty, musty old fellow, always groping among ruins.The true welth for doctor was not the money or benefits, but certain valuables, for example, family reliques or ancient treatise. Once working in one Italian city, he saw the band of young fellows of rough and saucy demeanor, clad in a singular manner, half peasant, half huntsman, who moved to him… The doctor had a little money in his pocket, but he had the precious treatise on the Pelasgian cities; he would gladly gave all the money in his pocket to keep the manuscript safe…
