Andrew Lang (1844 – 1912) was a Scots poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. He is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. The Andrew Lang lectures at the University of St Andrews are named after him. Lang was also a prolific author of works both fiction and non.
The Enchanted Wreath is a fairy tale, included in the Andrew Lang’s Orange Fairy Book. The story follows a family living by the forest. The father had a daughter of his own, and his wife did as well. Father’s daughter was fair, healthy and beautiful, and mother’s was, on the contrary, as close to ugly as it gets. One rainy evening, after a day of hard work, father’s daughter, tired and wet, had to go back to the forest to pick his lost axe.  But wandering alone in the woods always turns out to be an adventure.
