The Haymarket Affair

The Haymarket Affair came about through a chain of events which took place before the demonstrations actually happened. The Civil War was a major event in regards to the history of America because it played a major role in the way that the country progressed. This war was a long and bloody battle which was responsible for draining both the American population and economy. After the Civil War ended, the country went into a depression known as the depression of 1873- 1879.
The industrial revolution was also a very important historical event that was taking place during this time. The American economy took a major shift towards industrial production and many warehouses and factories were created in order to expand production. Most of the cities that were responsible for becoming major industrial centers were on the northern half of the United States. The city of Chicago quickly became one of the biggest centers for industrial labor in America.
