Francisco was going home; he had failed to buy a wife. His half-brother, born out of wedlock, would inherit the ranch that had belonged to his mothers’ people for over 100 years. His father had adopted Carlos, making him able to inherit. His father then stipulated in his will that the one who married first would inherit everything. The other would get nothing.
Francisco had left the ranch hoping to bring back a wife, and save the ranch. Suddenly his headlights struck a man with a knife, who ran. A girl was laying naked in the ditch. As he tried to help her he was taken by her beauty. She said he had saved her life; how could she ever repay him.
