In his Master's project, Bob interviewed hundreds of couples. In the process he often found out personal information about a couple. Such as the fact that Ralph and Tanya wanted a baby as much as it was possible to want a baby. But an accident had left Ralph unable to father a child. It had the potential to destroy their marriage.
They couldn't afford in vitro fertilization. They didn't want to ask one of their male friends to "help out".
But Bob wasn't a "friend." Not in the sense that it would be weird to ask for a favor like that.

And things got very weird after all.
