THE NIGERIAN POLITY

I believe in Nigeria. I love Nigeria. I know that Nigeria is a great nation with good people and highly talented individuals. It is a beautiful country highly endowed with both human and natural resources. Nigeria is indeed a blessed nation.

The socio-political issues in Nigeria should concern all well meaning Nigerians. It is our country and we must all join hands to move Nigeria forward. We should all contribute our quota to make Nigeria greater. We should all be concerned because whatever happens will affect us all in one way or the other. We must all join hands to make Nigeria the envy of all. We must make Nigeria better for the sake of posterity.

I am concerned about justice and human rights issues. I am concerned about issues affecting the masses of this country. I am concerned about issues affecting the poor and the less privileged in the society. I am equally concerned about issues affecting women and children. I believe that justice must not only be done but be seen to have been done by all parties involved-the plaintiff, the defendant as well as the society at large. I am concerned about impunity, brutality and flagrant human rights abuses of hapless Nigerian citizens. We should all be concerned about issues affecting us all.

This book is a compendium of some of my articles which have been published severally by many newspapers in Nigeria, both print as well as online newspapers. They have been published in many newspapers such as Vanguard, The Guardian, The Sun, Daily Independent, Blueprint newspapers as well as online news media such as Daily Post, Sahara Reporters, The Paradigm, Pointblank News and a host of others.

Many of my avid readers are constantly fascinated by my style of writing and always demand for more of my write-ups. Many others have requested to have a book containing my published articles and as a result I have decided to compile some of such articles in this book to satisfy their aspirations.

Most of these articles in this book were actually published in 2013 and are also available on my blog. I shall try to include any one omitted in this edition in later editions of this book. If you have already read any one in newspapers or online, then kindly skip to the next article. It is my hope that you will enjoy reading my thoughts on some issues that affect us all. But please kindly note that since most were published in 2013, many of the issues dealt with in these articles occurred around that period of time.

Don't just watch what's happening in your country; learn to contribute to make your country better. Don't just sit on the fence, but learn to take part in the affairs of your country. If you sit on the fence and refuse to make positive contributions to the affairs of your country, then don't complain if things go wrong because you have not lent your own voice to making it right.

If you fail to contribute meaningfully to bring about the change you desire in your country, then don't blame anybody if your leaders fail to make the change you desire. For your leaders to do the right things, you must be willing to make an input into the polity and influence their decisions for the benefit of all.

Posterity will not forgive you if all you do is to complain without offering viable solutions to the challenges facing your country.
