Meet the ‘Teen Guardian Angels’. They’re on a mission to stop teenagers from self-destructing their lives by killing themselves. And you’d better listen to them because they know what they’re talking about as they have already paid the price for doing exactly that – they are dead.
Railway Angel is Lizzie Hammond’s story of how she became a Guardian Angel and what she did to pass her test to join the Team.
Lizzie is a normal 15-year old: pretty, plenty of friends, average at school and fashion conscious, and it’s this last trait that will be the death of her. Not wanting to be seen in yesterday’s clothes, Lizzie wants money, money, money to buy them, and from her parents. Her parents refuse and Lizzie storms out. Intent on her anger with her mum, Lizzie meets with her friends and they end up at the local train station. A game of dare is suggested but it goes tragically wrong when Lizzie falls...onto the tracks.
Fast forward months later. Lizzie is a lost angel, until she meets Miranda Robson and arrives at the school for trainee angels. She is told to become a fully-fledged angel she has to pass a test – at a railway station. There is a teenage boy whose friends are daring him to cross the tracks, and she has to prevent him from doing so to pass her test.
If there is one thing that Lizzie hates doing it is telling people how she came to be an angel, and this is the one thing that she knows she has to do to get the boy to stop what he wants to do. So with newly discovered magical powers Lizzie brings her memories to life to make the boy understand that there is always a solution to a problem, and rescues him in time.
Back up in the clouds Lizzie is told she has passed as she is shown the scene where the boy is reunited with his mates on a train, alive and laughing. Now Lizzie feels she is no longer lost as to why she is where she is, and that she now has a purpose to fulfil – to become a proper ‘Guardian Angel’ with wings and a halo.
