By taking refuge in the Three Jewels, (the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Saṅgha) I learn and practice the way the Buddha taught us to end suffering, ultimately I seek to be enlightened and liberate from any realm of suffering. Venerating the Three Jewels is also a form of respect and gratitude toward the Buddha (who had undergone various forms of hardships in order to realize these ultimate truths), his teachings (the Dharma) and the Saṅgha (the community of the Blessed One’s disciples who have practice well to preserve his teachings). The Buddha founded the path to cease suffering, he seeks the path to end suffering for the well-beings and compassion of all beings who have fallen into cycles of suffering; the Dharma, which was well explained by the Buddha reveals the truth of suffering, the origin and cessation of suffering, and the path towards liberation; the Saṅgha, the community of the Blessed One’s disciples who have practice well, straight-forwardly, methodically and masterfully on the Dharma, and have bring forth the Dharma for the benefits and welfare of all beings.
