Higher education is very important for the development of any country Government of India also realized the same and has started giving more importance to it and that is why UGC has been established to ensure the quality and relevance of higher education in the country. Since its establishment, UGC introduces various schemes, programmes and projects for the betterment of universities, colleges and individuals working in higher education. As Shree Kapil Sibbal, Honorable Minister, MHRD says, "This is the time of paradigm shift for higher education. It needs to be transformed at its best." To make it happen, UGC has already introduced many innovative schemes under 11th Five Year Plan. Apart from 11th plan schemes, MHRD and UGC felt a need of some regulations to facilitate better quality in higher education. Hence, the regulations 2010 were notified. The present book is an endeavour to help you study and take benefit of the UGC Regulations on minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education 2010 and the UG'C (Minimum Standard and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./ Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009.
