This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of 2Kings and 1Chronicles. They are: Who is God?; Restoration; Deliverance; Jabez: ‘Keep me from harm’
Excerpts:
Who is God?
“The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a tool God gives to help us to be impactful and effective in our assignment for him on the earth; it is accompanied by the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8, 1Corinthians 12:1-11). What we regard as gifts of the Holy Spirit are special interventions to bridge the present gap caused by the sin of Adam to the original functioning of man. This is so that we can be restored to bearing the image of who God is on the earth as we should. He heaven we are completely restored.”
Restoration
“While in advance those who were born by a natural father, were partakers of the sin of Adam, having our potion in the death judgement he came under, in the same way those of you who be born again by a spiritual father (John 1:11-17), have our portion in Jesus, in His life, eternal life, the very life of God. So Paul could say that he was dead and the life he now lives he lives by faith in Jesus (Galatians 2:20).”
Deliverance
“We can either be free from sin and the bound to righteousness, or be free from righteous and bound to sin (Romans 6:16). Therefore real deliverance does not occur in isolation, there must be a corresponding bondage in the opposite direction, in two sides of a coin.”
Jabez: ‘Keep me from harm’
“The greatest harm that can come to humanity was done when Adam sold us as slaves to the kingdom of the devil (Luke 4:6-8). But when we believe in Jesus, we are taken from the kingdom of darkness, the place of harm, to the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13), with joy unspeakable (1Peter 1:8-9), glory, and the peace of God, marking our lives.”
