This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the books of 1Timothy, 2Timothy, and James. They are: Doing nothing in a spirit of partiality; Deceiver; Four kinds of faith; Grace to the humble; and Elijah.
Excerpts:
Doing nothing in a spirit of partiality
“But Jesus knowing their thought received the woman and rewarded her, saying whenever the gospel of the kingdom is preached, she would be mentioned, as I am doing now. Jesus received her, disregarding her history. It doesn’t matter how rotten you were, how messed up, how unworthy of God you feel, Jesus wants you, because he died or you (John 3:16).”
Deceiver
“What price are you willing to pay for truth? If you are not willing to pay the price for truth you will be deceived (Proverbs 23:23).
Four kinds of faith
“Faith as trust is linked with our prayer life. This is a fair view of the multi-sided faith as used in the different bible contexts.”
Grace to the humble
“Remember James was writing to Christians and telling them to check the strain of the old man, pride or else they would not move far in the kingdom as God, they would keep hitting a divine brick wall until they imbibe the ethos of humility, and therefore get some wind of God’s grace under your sail.”
Elijah
“A disappointment does not have to be an end. Joshua bounced back from the defeat to Ai because he gained the divine perspective. Your perspective either empowers or distracts and diminishes you. The reason we are supposed to renew our minds is to regularly realign our perspective with God’s (Romans 12:1-2), which is the key to being on the winning edge. Jesus said that when we continue to follow him we shall know the truth which will set us free (John 8:32), we will be free to be all we can be by the truth of God’s perspective about us, others and issues around us.”
