This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore seven topics, from different verses in the books of Matthew and Mark. They are: Out of Egypt; 8 things about healing; Generous God; God’s expression of mercy; Miracles; The work of the Lord; and “The Lord worked with them”.
Excerpts:
Out of Egypt
“Adam and Eve were punished variously for contravening God’s word, they exchanged their peace for a bite of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3). But now with the risk of punishment off our head in the shed blood of Jesus on the cross we can live with untold peace (Ephesians 1:7).”
8 things about healing
“We should understand that salvation does not just have benefit in this life-after, but in our soul and body in the now. Paul said that godliness is profitable now and not just when we close our eyes in final sleep (1Timothy 4:8).”

Generous God
“God’s generosity is without respect to race, age or sex. He showers his rain on both the wicked and the good (Matthew 5:44-45). You are only as limited your capacity to receive. A widow came to Prophet Elisha, complaining of lack. She was asked to borrow containers, and pour the little oil she had into them. The oil continued to flow miraculously until all the containers were filled (2Kings 4:1-7). She poured from above, representing God, and the different containers can only receive to the limit of their capacity.”

God’s expression of mercy

“Mercy is the reason for the love of God to us in this age and we can come in response to the love to us to receive his mercy. In the book of Hebrews (4:16), we read that we should come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy. We can be bold to come to him because he was bold to sacrifice his son for us. The mercy of God does not discriminate of reject people.”
Miracles
“Everything hears the word of God and lines up because the words carry power. The bible says that where the word of a king is, there is power, and Jesus has made us kings (Revelation 1:6) and we are imbued with his word, and thus with power (Ecclesiastes 8:4). The Holy Spirit is within us, that means God has his throne in us, and we can speak the words of God to change things around us, to command transformation, miraculous transformation.”

The work of the Lord
“Paul laid hold of the stupendous grace of God and from a accomplice to the murder of a Christian, he became a foremost apostle, saying that I am what I am because of the grace of God (1Corinthians 15:9-10).”
“The Lord worked with them”
“You are confronted with a truth that is beyond you, and like the children of Israel, on mount Carmel when Elijah called down fire from heaven, licking up water, animals and the waters, they will bow down and say, Jesus is Lord (1Kings 18:1-39,  Philippians 2:9-11).

“We are merchants of the mercy of God, breaking forth miracles on the earth in the name of Jesus.”
