This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of the Ministry of the Word are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the books of Ecclesiastes and Isaiah. They are: The balance of truth; Keep the king’s command; Acceptable words; Your teacher; and The desert.
Excerpts:
The balance of truth
“We should celebrate our uniqueness, take our mandate serious. Paul could have regretted being called the minister to the gentiles (such a seemingly inglorious, persecution-ridden undertaking), but he said: I magnify my office; I make it seem like the most important office (Romans 11:13).”
Keep the king’s command
“In keeping of the commandment of God there is need for diligence. There is need for single-minded devotion, there is need for us to abandon any other agenda expect pleasing God. Paul enjoined us to walk worthy of the Lord pleasing him in all things (Colossians 1:9-10). It should not be our aim to just make the attempt to please God, it has to be wholehearted, total.  Seeking God diligently has to do with passion for God. And you cannot keep the commandment without being passionate about him.”
Acceptable words
“And when we speak in tongues we are speaking to God in the spirit, with our spirit (1Corinthians 14::2, 4). With that, you cannot pray amiss, and we make the right impact in the realm of the spirit. We speak acceptable words.”
Your teacher
“As the word comes to us, it is the manifestation of Christ, Son of God, causing us to manifest as sons of God, bearing his glory on the earth (Romans 8:18-19). Paul said that his preaching is not in the communication of human wisdom but the demonstration of the Spirit and power (1Corinthians 2:4).”
The desert
“As it is written: God will give to the sheep, shepherds after his own heart, who will feed them with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15); and in the wilderness of this world their experience will be of Eden.”
