This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore sixteen topics, from different verses in the book of Psalms. They are: The foundation; Blessedness; A heart’s cry to be guided; 2 sides of favour; The tongue as pen; God shines from Zion; From prison to prosperity; Bring gifts to God;‘You are gods’; The maker; The Lord is coming to judge the earth; We are God’s people; 3 dimensions of time; Light and darkness; Enthroned on high; and Abiding forever.
Excerpts:
The foundation
“Without faith standing as shield, all attacks of the enemy would be fatal. That is why the psalmist says if the foundation be destroyed, (and here, if the shield of faith be destroyed) what can the righteous do? That is a rhetorical question which highlights how dire the resultant situation would indeed be.”
Blessedness
“To be blessed is to have access to the provisions of heaven in divine light and largesse, to be otherwise is tantamount to living in darkness and to be in stark want, even if your bank account is overflowing.”
A heart’s cry to be guided
“All goes to show that ultimately its about a continuous and consistent relationship with God that delivers continuous guidance just as we read that Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:22-24), following his direction but close proximity to God, developing spiritual sensitivity to him in all things.”
2 sides of favour
“For Philip, knowing the father was the ultimate, and that is through Jesus who is the way to the truth (knowledge favour) and the life (grace favour).”
The tongue as pen
“Earlier he said to the people: “my doctrine is not mine, but what I hear I declare. I made the use of my mouth to serve the purpose of God (John 7:16-18).” But we must commit our tongue to be used in God’s purpose, as instruments for God to display himself on the earth, writing his thoughts on men’s hearts.”
God shines from Zion
“God shines forth from Zion in three ways of glory, knowledge and power, which are intertwined many times. There is the knowledge of his glory, God is said to be glorious in power and Paul said the knowledge of God he reveals through preaching is in the demonstration of power (1Corinthians 2:4).”
From prison to prosperity
“We are no longer limited by time as we share the purpose of Jesus, since his is an eternal purpose (Ephesians 3:10-11). We are no longer limited by space; as we are now seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:5-6). We are no longer limited in potential, because we are blessed with all blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3). It is now cheap to walk in the supernatural.”
Bring gifts to God
“God gave Jesus as the gift that keeps giving, and we give to heaven the gifts of our lives, our time, energy and materials. With what you do, you lose things on earth that are allowed in heaven (Matthew 18:18), you live your life in sync with heaven, where the giving flow started.”
‘You are gods’
“We are sons of God; that is who we are, we are rulers. But we are not rogue rulers, doing anything we like, trying to put ourselves in the stead of Christ or of the only true God (1Thessalonians 1:9). We are only share in the authority in of Jesus, who says that all power in heaven and on earth is given to him (Matthew 28:18-20). Therefore any authority we wield is through his name. His name is the one that commands submission in all realms.”
