This book presents a concise history of the United Nations Programme on Public Administration, Finance and Development since its inception 60 years ago. It is organized in six sections. The first section reviews broadly the global trends in public administration. The second narrates briefly the establishment of the Programme and the system of general direction and supervision of the Programme provided by the United Nations legislatives bodies. The third discusses how the Programme was directed and supervised by a specific body. The fourth summarizes the diverse activities carried out under the Programme for the benefit of Member States and the international community. The fifth and sixth sections detail the present position of the Programme and its future perspective.
