Jacob, who has just come out of prison for the second time in less than two years, has made up his mind that he wants to change his life and also return to college to complete his teaching diploma. He also wants to eventually teach in the small village school deep inside the Valley of a Thousand Hills, where he went to school, as he wants to give something of value back to the community he let down so badly, when he was sent to prison for stealing.

The monk whose job it is to assist people who have come to such a decision, has decided to help Jacob as he has taken a liking to him and also believes he is sincere. This is why he causes something unusual to happen on Jacob's train journey back home. Something that will lead Jacob right to the door where he is presently living.

Within the story reality shifts just ever so slightly, to make the telling of the tale more interesting, while it also allows the monk to do whatever he has to do to help Jacob along his way. -So open your mind as you allow the monk to lead you into his world, as well as Jacobs world, to a place where the two worlds collide and mingle without any difficulty, or any sense that something might be amiss.
